AquaVista is thrilled to welcome three Gentoo penguin chicks to the Penguin Shores family. Born over the past six weeks, the chicks — affectionately named Splash, Ripple, and Drift — are now beginning to explore the colony habitat under the watchful eyes of their parents.
Gentoo penguins are the third-fastest swimming birds in the world, capable of reaching speeds up to 22 miles per hour. Our breeding program is part of an international Species Survival Plan coordinated across accredited aquariums and zoos.
Visitors can watch the chicks during feeding times at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM daily. Our animal care team provides live commentary about penguin behavior, biology, and the conservation challenges facing Antarctic wildlife.
